The mystery of what covered the face of a Florida man whose mugshot inspired infinite questions and jokes has finally been solved.
The Smoking Gun reports that the substance coating 36-year-old Arie Patterson's face is Sabre pepper foam. Dani Moschella, spokesperson for the Broward Sheriff's Office, told the Smoking gun jail employees in Broward County were forced to deploy it on Patterson (three times) because
he got rowdy when they tried to fingerprint him and take his picture. The end result was a priceless.
Though Patterson instantly fell in line after being sprayed in the face a few times, he decided to leave the world with this image. It's a reminder not to make things worse for yourself by getting combative while in police custody.
